The Ravensworth Arms is situated 3 minutes from the A1 near such attractions as the centre of Newcastle and the Metrocentre. However it is ideal for those wanting city life without compromising on the idylic rural setting in a bird conservation area with panoramic views of the world famous Angel of the North. We have easy access to some of the regions finest golf courses. Slaley Hall Close House Beamish and Matfern to name but a few. This historic building stands on the site of Clubdon Hall and takes it's name from the nearby Ravensworth Castle. The pub can boast a wealth of literary connections: Lewis Carroll was a frequent visitor due to his connections at Oxford University to Lord Ravensworth and it is said that part of 'Alice in Wonderland' was written here. Also the famous writer Catherine Cookson's mother worked here and it is believed Catherine was conceived here!In keeping with the traditional atmosphere of the building we have 19 comfortable en suite bedrooms including an excellent four posterroom and two family rooms. Free wi fi is available in the rooms as well as in the coffee lounge in the restaurant. The restaurant has recently been refurbished to a high standard and offers a contemporary menu to suit all tastes as well as a childrens menu. The menu is available all day. Our meeting room the Lewis Carroll Suite holds up to 50 people. Wedding and civil ceremonies can be performed here as the Ravensworth Arms holds a civil licience. We offer car parking for 80 vehicles.
