Alnwick Castle


alnwick_castleThe home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and the second largest inhabited castle.  The castle most recently made famous by the Harry Potter films with a lot of the filming of Hogwarts done in the Castle.
The castle host various events throughout the year with characters from the Harry Potter coming to life.

Other events that relate to the history of the castle offering visitors to gain fighting skills from days of yor in the Kinights Quest or if you prefer the Swords person  can try there hand at slaying a fire breathing Dragon. Other daily events include guided tours, a selection of childrens activities, birds of prey display, archery training and fine art and china displays       
2009 marks the 700th aniversary of Percy family ownership and to celebrate this monumentous occasion there is an exhibition showing how the family how reached there current status. from miltary achievements, alchamey, archeology  and education, givng a detailed account of the family members from generation to generation.

The castle known as the Windsor of the North was originally built as a medival fortress which has magnificent architectral design and awe inspiring beauty.
